Straight Run Only
An unusual, domestic duck, the Indian Runner is sometimes referred to as the “Penguin Duck” due to their upright stance. As a very good egg layer, this breed makes for an interesting addition to a flock!

Indian Runners make for great foragers and will spend most of their days looking for worms, slugs, and even catching flies! They are easily herded and tend to run as opposed to waddling or flying. They are productive egg layers, but very rarely nest, and their eggs can be greenish white, although they can vary.
Description at 1 Day Old:
Mostly yellow duckling, often with slender bodies, long necks, and a naturally upright posture.
Description at Maturity:
Tall, slender ducks with long upright necks, distinctive penguin-like posture, and mostly fawn plumage with white around its neck.
What color eggs do Indian Runner Ducks lay, and how many a year?
Indian Runner hens lay about 180 to 250 eggs a year. Most are white, and some can be greenish white. They rarely nest, so check the whole run for eggs. This bird is also searched as Fawn and White Runner, Indain Runner, or penguin duck.
When do Indian Runner Duck hens start laying?
Runners usually start laying around 5 to 6 months old.
Can I order only female Indian Runner Ducks?
Our ducks are straight run only, boxed as hatched, so you will get a mix of drakes and hens. You can tell them apart as they grow. Hens have a loud quack and drakes have a quieter, raspy voice, and grown drakes get a curled feather at the tip of the tail.
Are Indian Runner Ducks cold hardy, and what is their temperament?
Yes. Runners are hardy in most climates. They are active, easy to herd, and spend their day hunting slugs, worms, and even flies.
Do you ship Indian Runner ducklings?
Yes. We ship by USPS to every state except Hawaii, and you pick your ship week in the cart from the weeks we are hatching this breed. Order minimums change by season, and your cart shows the current minimum before checkout. Every order is covered by our 100% Live Arrival Guarantee. If they don't arrive alive, call us within 48 hours and we will make it right. Count your chicks when you get them home.
What is the difference between Fawn and White, Blue, Black, and Silver Runner ducks?
Mostly color. All four are Indian Runners with the same upright build and strong egg laying.
